Gold is down 16.6% from its January high of $5,318, yet Kitco projects higher prices ahead. The case writes itself: the Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed since June 20, the Fed has held rates flat all year despite 3.5% headline inflation and 5.5% producer inflation, and the fiscal deficit is running at 6% of GDP. The question is not whether gold goes higher — it's why it fell in the first place.
