Gold at $4,034 is down 24% from its January peak of $5,318. When an asset falls a quarter from its high, you do not say it "steadies" — you say it's in a sustained drawdown. The fact that PPI cooled while yields rose only underscores that the metal has lost its hedge appeal in both inflation and real rate scenarios.
