The Fed held rates steady at 3.65% in June while Hormuz stayed 80% blocked, Russia inflicted 1,300 casualties per day in Ukraine, and Iran edged toward resuming hostilities. Gold fell anyway. Apparently investors prefer 3.65% nominal yields in a currency whose government is running a $1.4 trillion deficit to metal with no counterparty risk during a five-month oil chokepoint.
