DW NOTE
The People's Bank of China reported 2,264 tonnes at last disclosure. The U.S. holds 8,133 tonnes. To close that gap in five years requires China to add 1,174 tonnes annually while the U.S. adds nothing. China's 2023 purchases ran at 225 tonnes. The arithmetic doesn't work unless someone is buying gold and not reporting it—which is the point.
