Nigeria has lost 48% of its dollar millionaires since 2016. The same decade in which the naira was devalued four times, capital controls tightened, and inflation averaged 16%. The wealthy left because they could; everyone else stayed and got poorer in dollar terms while officials called each devaluation a reform.
