DW NOTE
The US fiscal deficit hit $1.9 trillion in 2026 — roughly 6% of GDP — and the IMF is apparently objecting to how Treasury models the forward path. That's rich. The Fund spent decades lending to governments it knew couldn't pay, then calling the write-downs "debt relief" instead of creditor failure. Now it quibbles over Washington's spreadsheet assumptions while holding the bag on Ukraine, Egypt, and Pakistan.
