UBS is forecasting $5,400 gold by September 2027 while the metal trades at $4,216 today — down 20.7% from its January high of $5,318. Banks rarely predict something will recover to its recent peak and then exceed it; they call tops on the way up and bottoms on the way down. The fact that gold has already traded $1,100 higher this year suggests UBS isn't forecasting so much as extrapolating from a chart they missed the first time.
