TotalEnergies shipped 12.6 million tonnes of LNG from Russia in 2023 — one-fifth of its global trade — and held a 19.4% stake in Novatek's Arctic LNG 2 until US sanctions forced partial divestment. The report calls this a security risk. With Hormuz closed for 208 days and Europe already paying triple-digit gas prices, the real risk is that France listened to this sort of analysis in the first place.
