Norway's Government Pension Fund — the world's largest sovereign wealth fund — is reportedly considering a shift out of Treasuries and into U.S. corporate debt. This would mark the second time in eighteen months that a major sovereign holder has signaled retreat from U.S. government paper while the federal deficit runs $1.4 trillion through June and the Fed debates whether to hike into 40 bp of curve steepness. The Treasury market doesn't have a demand problem yet, but it's collecting reasons to develop one.
