European spot gas prices have disconnected from fundamentals for years; now they'll disconnect from sanity. Qatar ships 77 million tonnes per year, mostly to Asia and Europe. If insurers pull coverage or shipping routes shift, the price isn't the story. The price is a lagging indicator of whether German factories can stay open in January.
