Dalio has been calling the dollar doomed since 2020. The US ran a $1.9 trillion deficit in FY2026 — six percent of GDP during expansion — and the 10-year yield still sits at 5.19%, not 15%. Investors keep buying the debt he says they'll flee, at rates that would have seemed normal in 2007. His hedge hasn't been wrong, but it hasn't been right either.
