DW NOTE
Price controls on fuel are producing the only outcome they have ever produced: empty stations and queues. France denied shortage risk on September 15; by September 21 seventeen percent of its stations had run dry, including ninety-one percent of Total's network, which is capping diesel at €1.99 while losing €250–300 million. Italy capped prices last week and Florence ran out on day one. This is not a supply problem dressed up as a demand problem — it is the eighth month of a six percent global oil supply contraction being managed with Bronze Age economic policy.
