The raw geopolitics of energy foretell an ugly end to the war in Ukraine.

DW NOTE
Doomberg argues Ukraine's fate hinges on energy arithmetic that no amount of Western resolve can override. The piece is correct that Europe's gas dependency and global oil tightness create real constraints — but treating energy supply as destiny ignores that wars end through negotiation, exhaustion, or collapse, not because someone ran the BTU calculation. Russia burns through men and materiel at rates its economy cannot indefinitely sustain; Ukraine fights with coalition backing that shifts with electoral cycles, not pipeline flow. The "ugly end" Doomberg foresees may arrive, but it will be a political outcome dressed in energy language, not a thermodynamic inevitability.
