The Fed has added $216 billion in long-dated Treasuries since 2021 while claiming it was tightening. That's not quantitative tightening — that's buying duration with one hand while pretending to drain reserves with the other. When the central bank needs to own more of the curve to keep yields from spiking, the deficit isn't sustainable and the tightening was theatre.
