Iran now claims it will control a "new" shipping corridor through Hormuz — the same strait it mined shut seven months ago, leaving 2,000 vessels stranded and cutting global oil supply by 4 million barrels per day. Declaring sovereignty over an alternative route is not the same as clearing the mines from the original one.
