DW NOTE
India joined BRICS to expand its diplomatic options, not to subordinate them to Beijing's preferred framing. The problem isn't that China wants to define the Global South — it's that "the Global South" as a political construct exists mainly to provide rhetorical cover for regimes that share neither ideology nor interests. India's challenge isn't preventing China from defining this category; it's deciding whether the category serves any Indian interest at all.
