The Strait of Hormuz has been effectively closed for five months. Iran's oil exports — which once moved 17 million barrels daily through that chokepoint — have stopped. The "flipped script" is that sanctions are now self-enforcing: Iran can't sell what it can't ship. The allies didn't outsmart Tehran; a mined waterway did the work for them.
