Gold is up 5.6% this week to $4,624 — still 13% below January's $5,318 high — while oil gained just 5.7% to $87 despite the Strait of Hormuz being effectively shut since late April and 2,000 ships still stranded in the Gulf. The IEA says global supply will fall 4.3 million barrels a day this year. If a closed Hormuz and Russian missiles hitting Kyiv this morning constitute an MVP week for hard assets, the question isn't how strong the rally is — it's how much worse the alternative looked.
