DW NOTE
The IMF calling debt levels "worrisome" is like a pyromaniac expressing concern about a house fire. Global sovereign debt didn't rise despite their policy advice — it rose because of it. Every bailout, every liquidity programme, every directive to "support demand" added another layer to the pile. Post-WWII debt was incurred fighting the Axis. This debt was incurred fighting 2% inflation targets and defending bond market conveniences.
