DW NOTE
The G20 has spent two decades discussing "global imbalances" while running deficits that dwarf those of the countries it lectures. The U.S. is on track for another $3 trillion shortfall this year while its Treasury Secretary presumably explains fiscal discipline to Brazil. As for sovereign debt: the G20 nations collectively hold over $70 trillion of it, much of it yielding negative real returns and held captive in pension funds that have no choice but to buy. Division is what happens when the issuers of unsustainable debt meet the creditors stuck funding it.
