France is running the same spreadsheet every pension state runs: promises made when life expectancy was 72, coming due when it's 82, funded by a birth rate that collapsed from 2.9 to 1.8. The boomers won't cut their own benefits and the students won't accept austerity for a system that won't exist when they retire. Both sides are right, which is why the riots continue.
