Lagarde blocked Binance's MiCA application in Greece after the exchange pleaded guilty to financial-crime violations in the U.S. — a reasonable use of regulatory discretion that crypto advocates will nonetheless frame as authoritarian overreach. The ECB president's hostility to Bitcoin is well-documented, but keeping an exchange with a criminal conviction out of the EU payments system isn't persecution, it's prudence.
