China’s gold stockpile could surpass U.S. holdings in the next five years - BMO Capital Markets - KITCO

China has reported 2,350 tonnes in official reserves since suspending updates last year. The U.S. holds 8,133 tonnes. BMO is projecting a fivefold acceleration in accumulation with no public data to support it — Beijing buys through proxies, off-balance-sheet vehicles, and Hong Kong clearers that never hit the PBOC balance sheet. If the prediction is accurate, it confirms the reserves figure was fiction all along.
