China's gold reserves rise by most since October 2023 as buying pace quickens - Reuters

China bought more gold last month than in any month since October 2023. This marks the fourth consecutive month of accelerated buying after a 17-month pause that ended in November 2025. Beijing is now adding reserves at the fastest sustained pace since the currency devaluation of 2015. When a central bank that prints renminbi starts hoarding the one asset central banks cannot print, it is expressing a view about the one it can.
