Central banks bought 1,037 tonnes of gold in 2023, another 1,045 tonnes in 2024, and nearly 800 tonnes in the first half of 2025 alone. In 2026, with gold down 22.4% from its January peak of $5,318, they are still buying — Poland, India, Turkey, China. The price fell because Western investors sold ETFs into the ceasefire rally.
