Johnson calls Bitcoin a "pure play" on global liquidity, not money — which at least concedes the point that it doesn't function as a medium of exchange. The timing is awkward: the Fed just raised rates for the first time in three years, gold is down 19% from its January peak, and liquidity is tightening, not expanding. If Bitcoin is a liquidity gauge, it should be priced accordingly.
